Congress Leader C.K. Gopalakrishnan Arrested in Defamation Case Against CPM Leader K.J. Shine

Congress leader C. K. Gopalakrishnan was arrested and subsequently released on station bail after appearing before the Aluva Cyber Police as per court instructions and having his statement recorded.
Gopalakrishnan had previously filed an anticipatory bail application in the Ernakulam Sessions Court. However, as the police informed that bailable offenses had been charged, the court directed him to appear for questioning.
Gopalakrishnan appeared at the Aluva Rural Cyber Station around 12 PM and was questioned by the police for one and a half hours. K.J. Shine, the CPM leader, had alleged that Gopalakrishnan initiated a cyber-attack against him, following which he lodged a complaint.
Gopalakrishnan is the first accused in the case, with YouTuber K.M. Shajahan named as the second accused. Shajahan’s arrest in connection with the case and the subsequent criticism from the court had garnered significant public attention.
Following the police case, Gopalakrishnan, who had gone into hiding, had his phone seized from his residence. His Facebook account, suspected of being used for the defamatory campaign, was removed by Meta at the request of the investigation team. Gopalakrishnan stated that the police questioned him about a post he had shared on social media.
