Case Filed Against Najeeb Kanthapuram MLA for Alleged Laptop Fraud

PERINTHALMANNA: A case has been filed against Najeeb Kanthapuram MLA based on a complaint filed by a young woman alleging she was cheated after paying for a laptop that was promised at half price. The Perinthalmanna police have registered a case against the MLA, naming him as the first accused. The case has been registered for fraud and financial misappropriation based on a complaint filed by Anupama, a resident of Kunnummalpadi, Thirunaryanapuram, Pulamanthole.
The complaint alleges that the MLA, through a press release and WhatsApp messages, advertised that laptops would be provided if 50% of the amount was paid upfront. Anupama claims that she paid ₹21,000 directly at the MLA’s office, but even after 40 days, she has neither received the laptop nor a refund.
The alleged fraud came to light after Ananthu Krishnan was arrested in a similar case involving the Mudra Foundation, where hundreds of people in the constituency were allegedly cheated. The victims were promised scooters, laptops, sewing machines, and bicycles at half price, with delivery within 40 days of payment. However, many months have passed, and the products have not been delivered. Following Ananthu Krishnan’s arrest for a similar fraud, the victims came forward with complaints.
