BJP Gets Zero Votes in Ottapalam’s Poolakkundu Ward; Muslim League Victorious

Palakkad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) failed to secure a single vote in the Poolakkundu ward of Ottapalam Municipality in Palakkad, marking a significant electoral outcome in the recent local body elections. Prasad T.A., who contested as the NDA candidate from the eleventh ward, received zero votes.
In a decisive victory, Muslim League candidate Mohammed Fazi emerged as the winner in the Poolakkundu ward, securing a total of 710 votes. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate, Ashroof, finished in second place with 518 votes. Other candidates in the fray included independent candidate Anwar, who garnered 57 votes, and Welfare Party candidate Mohammed Usman, who received 42 votes.
Despite this particular ward’s result, the BJP remains a significant force within the 39-member Ottapalam Municipality Council, holding 12 seats and thus positioning itself as the second-largest party. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) currently leads the council with 19 members. The Indian National Congress holds four seats, while the Muslim League accounts for three.
