Auto-Rickshaw Carrying School Students Plunges into Canal in Pathanamthitta, Two Children Dead

Pathanamthitta: A tragic accident in Thoompakulam, Konni, has resulted in the deaths of two school children after an auto-rickshaw carrying them plunged into a canal. The deceased have been identified as eight-year-old Aadilakshmi, a third-grade student of Karimanthode Sree Narayana School, and four-year-old Yadukrishnan, who was initially reported missing and later recovered by Fire Force personnel during a search operation.
The ill-fated auto-rickshaw was transporting six students when the incident occurred. One student managed to escape without any injuries. The remaining injured students are currently receiving medical attention at a private hospital and the General Hospital in Pathanamthitta.
Preliminary reports suggest that the accident happened when the auto-rickshaw driver swerved to avoid a snake on the road, causing the vehicle to lose control and fall approximately 50 feet into the canal.
The incident took place around 4 PM. Locals swiftly responded to the scene and initiated rescue efforts. The auto-rickshaw driver also sustained injuries in the accident; however, these are not considered critical.
