”Aura of Saint Unravelled; Rahul Should Go on Political Exile if He Has Remorse,’ Says Vellappally Natesan’
SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan stated that Rahul initially tried to portray himself as a saint and justify his actions by claiming there was no case, but now Rahul’s saintly aura has unravelled. Vellappally added that if Rahul has any remorse, he should go on political exile.
Vellappally was reacting after a case was registered against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mankootathil in a sexual assault case. He said that whether Rahul should resign or not is a decision Rahul and the Congress party must make. “No one is without fault. There are many ‘big’ Rahul Mankootathils, but none of them have tried to become saints,” Vellappally pointed out.
Regarding the Sabarimala gold robbery, Vellappally stated that he had always maintained that Padmakumar was a troublemaker and that Padmakumar tried to increase his personal assets. He also said that if the investigation proceeds correctly, it would reach the ‘Tantri’ (chief priest). He further clarified that the political situation cannot be assessed based on the results of the local elections.
