Alcohol Prices Hiked in Kerala: Increase Ranges from ₹10 to ₹50

The revised alcohol prices in Kerala have come into effect, with an increase ranging from ₹10 to ₹50. Popular brands like Jawan have seen a hike of ₹10. In total, prices of 341 brands from 62 companies have been increased, while 107 brands from 45 companies have seen a price reduction.

The hike follows requests from liquor companies, citing the rising cost of raw materials, including spirits. The companies had appealed to the Kerala Beverages Corporation (Bevco) for a price increase. In response, Bevco recommended a 7% increase in base prices to the government.

Earlier, the government had waived sales tax on liquor companies, compensating for the loss through price adjustments. Now, with the increase in spirit prices, the government has approved a further price hike based on the companies’ demands. This is the first price revision in 15 months.
