Adv. B.N. Haskar Alleges Embezzlement of Martyr Funds in CPI(M), Joins RSP

Kollam: Advocate B.N. Haskar, a prominent Left observer, has announced his departure from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), alleging that the party is involved in the embezzlement of martyr funds. He declared that he will now be working as part of the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP).
Haskar stated that he has been under considerable pressure ever since he publicly criticized the Chief Minister. He further clarified that his disillusionment with the CPI(M) stems from his realization that it no longer represents the true Left ideology. This decision, he explained, marks an end to his association with a party that he claims condones such illicit activities.
In his statement, Haskar elaborated on his reasons for leaving the CPI(M). He asserted that the CPI(M) leadership has reached the “final stage of right-wing deviation.” He highlighted a specific instance where a former district committee member revealed the embezzlement of martyr funds within the party. Haskar criticized the party’s response to such allegations, stating, “The party is expelling the child who raised the question and creating new interpretations instead of addressing the issue.” He added that if the party continues to protect leaders involved in the embezzlement of martyr funds, it becomes “impossible to continue even for a moment.”
Haskar also expressed that his decision to leave the CPI(M) was influenced by his belief that figures like V.D. Satheesan and Shibu Baby John are now the ones truly representing the Left discourse in Kerala. This understanding, he noted, solidified his resolve to seek an alternative political platform.
He clarified that his criticisms regarding the party’s policy deviations are not recent. He had repeatedly raised these concerns within various party forums, but his efforts to bring about change were met with no tangible response. Facing limited options as an individual, Haskar decided to explore other Left alternatives, leading to his decision to join the RSP. He affirmed that he will continue to participate in political discussions as an observer, maintaining his commitment to Left ideals.
