Action Recommended Against SHO Who Hit Pedestrian and Fled Scene

Thiruvananthapuram: Rural SP K.S. Sudarshan has recommended action against Parassala SHO P. Anilkumar for his involvement in a hit-and-run incident near Kilimanur police station on MC Road, which resulted in the death of a pedestrian. The SP has submitted a report to the DIG, Ajitha Beegum, who will review it before forwarding it to Southern Zone IG S. Syamsundar today. A suspension order for Anilkumar is expected to be issued today.

Rural SP K.S. Sudarshan stated that Anilkumar, who had gone to Bengaluru for another case, returned yesterday morning but did not report to the station or the SP’s office. It has been confirmed that the vehicle involved in the accident belongs to Anilkumar. The SP emphasized that failing to inform the nearest police station after an accident and not taking the injured person to the hospital are serious offenses.

The incident occurred in the early hours of September 7. Rajan (59), a daily wage worker from Chennikuzhi Melevila Kunnu Veettil, was hit by the car while he was going out for tea in the morning. The car did not stop after the collision. Rajan lay injured on the road for about an hour before the police arrived around 6 AM and took him to Keshavapuram Community Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead.

Initially, the incident was reported as a case involving an unknown vehicle. However, CCTV footage analysis later identified the car and its driver. Police confirmed that the visuals clearly show Anilkumar driving the car. Anilkumar is a native of Nilamel Kaithode.
