27-Year-Old Dies After Lung Transplant at Kottayam Medical College

KOTTAYAM: A 27-year-old woman, P.D. Divyamol from Parappally, Irumbunnakkara, Erumeli, has tragically passed away while undergoing treatment following a lung transplant surgery at Kottayam Medical College. Divyamol had been admitted to a private hospital in Pala two months prior after ingesting herbicide. Due to her critical condition, she was subsequently transferred to Kottayam Medical College, where she was sustained on a ventilator.

The life-saving surgery was performed on the 22nd of last month. Divyamol received the lungs of A.R. Aneesh (38), a Deputy Prison Officer at Poojappura Central Prison and Correctional Home, Thiruvananthapuram, who had been declared brain-dead. Despite the successful transplant, she succumbed to her condition while receiving post-operative care in the intensive care unit.

She is survived by her mother Indu, brother Dilu, and husband Ashokan. The cremation has been completed.
